A spinoff from the Isley Brothers, bassist Marvin Isley, drummer/guitarist Ernie Isley, and their keyboardist brother-in-law Chris Jasper worked in the Isley Brothers 3 + 3 band from 1969 until 1984. They signed with Columbia as a separate entity at that time, and had substantial success with their debut LP, Broadway's Closer to Sunset Blvd. Their 1985 release Caravan of Love included their only R&B chart-topping single in the title cut, which had a three-week reign at number one. They scored three other Top 20 singles in 1986 and 1987, "Insatiable Woman," "8th Wonder of the World," and "Givin' You Back the Love."
