Scottish singer, born 20 November 1947 in Edinburgh. The Aneka alias gave her "1 hit wonder" status with her UK number 1 'Japanese Boy' in August 1981. Under her real name, Mary Sandeman has also released traditional Scottish folk music.
Aneka (born Mary Sandeman, 20 November 1954) is a Scottish singer. In 1981, she hit number one in the UK Singles Chart with her song, "Japanese Boy". She was well known for the Oriental image she adopted for the song. After her brief foray into pop she reverted to her real name and established herself as an accomplished singer of Scottish traditional music.
