Straight outta Duval County Jacksonville, Fl. Thrill Da Playa has held it down for the Sunshine State ever since the early 90’s as a member of the world renowned 69 Boyz of the coveted Quad City Family.
Born Van Bryant, Thrill excelled in sports at a very early age. In fact, it was at Flethcer Sr. High School that the name “Thrill” was given to the All Star wide out. After graduation and a brief stint in the U.S. army, Thrill returned to Duval to seriously pursue his musical career. After co-penning and co-producing mage hits for 95 South: Whoot There It Is (5 million sold), Dis-N-Dat: Freak Ma Baby (Gold LP Gold Single), Tootsie Roll, 199Quad (6.5 Million sold), Quad City Djs: Come On Ride Da Train (Platinum), as well as the theme song to the Micheal Jordan Bugs Bunny Classic Space Jam, the theme to Eddie Murphy s Dr. Doolittle, Reah Pearman’s Sunset Park, and countless other soundtracks.
Music is a ministry for me, says Thrill who created HB Recordings in 1998 and has released an independent release every year since. In 2004 he began working on his latest masterpiece: The Sounds of My Impala.
This is my most honest LP yet and a lot of souls will be via STRAIGHT STREET STORIES .
In addition to the highly anticipated Spring 2006 release of the Sounds of My Impala, Thrill held down Tallahassee radio’s #1 night spot at Clear Channel’s 100.7 The Beat. He also runs HB Promotions, Florida’s premier party promotions company along with CoEdz: The Hip Hop Boutique and CoEd Clothing (an exclusive urban fashion line).
My abscense away from the world wide scene has been used to perfect my music industry skills at the sake of my own career. i took time off to learn and practice ethics of business with my own career and reputation, not at the expense of the lives and careers of other artists.
In addition to learning I’ve dedicated my life to helping those that are serious about their careers whether they are an artist or a business owner. God has blessed me with certain outlets to help promote others at no expense and more than anything in life, that’s what I live for.
Before I leave this earth, this world woll know I was here. Kanye was the beginning of the revolution… I am the continuation. I don’t know what the industry will call our music and our sound, but it’s bigger than Gospel and Hip Hop because God has allowed us to bridge both.
