Italian producer from the 90's onwards. The pseudonym of Filippo Carmeni, composer and producer of dance music who was born in Crotone, Italy and who has been living and working in Milan since 1991. He showed a marked creative and artistic aptitude since he was a young boy. He intensely experienced the dark music period as a teenager. He followed the classical studies and approached musical composition attracted by electronic music, even if his first musical instruments were the violin and piano. After putting together a new wave band, he decided to devote himself to dance compositions in consideration of the more immediate and gratifying response of discotheque audiences. In the early 1990’s he started to perform live in several clubs and moved to Milan to go to the university, but then decided to spend some time in London, attracted as he was to the house music explosion. When he returned to Italy he went to several producers and met DJ Molella who invited him to collaborate in cutting his singles “Revolution”, “Confusion”, “Change” (no. 1 in the Italian hit parade) and “If You Wanna Party” (top 10 in England). After having been an integral part of various dance projects, like “The End” and “Z 100” together with vocalist Lukone with participation in the 1996 radio Dee Jay New Year’s eve party broadcast by Italia Uno with “Arriva Arriva” and a lengthy tour in Spain, he took part in the “Gira La Palla” composition team, a bizarre project of Teo Teocoli playing the part of “Felice Caccamo”, published by FMA. Following this experience, he focused on establishing the “Planet Studio” recording studio located in Milan, which as the years have passed has become a real crossroads of artists and DJ’s, starting a profitable relationship with the do it yourself record company in Milan, artistically producing and composing songs by international artists, including “Gala” produced with Molella and “The Soundlovers” (Nathalie and Germano), top 20 in Germany, produced with Molella, blackjack and Roby Santini, attaining excellent sales the world over. To be mentioned in the number 1 spot in France, Belgium and Luxembourg and number 2 in England with “Freed From Desire” by Gala (with whom he took part in the french television program “Taratata”), in addition to many placings in the Italian hit parade that led to his acknowledgement for productions made and shared with DJ Molella, with whom he took part at Festivalbar as Molella and Phil Jay: “It’s A Real World”, a song that took second place in the Italian hit parade. Afterwards he proved himself again with heaven 17, “With This Ring Let Me Go” (both came out with the time records label). It was a song rapped by Fast Eddie together with the Outhere Brothers. In 1996 he took part in “Viva Interaktive”, broadcast by the german satellite TV station “Viva”, and he came in fifth place with Molella as artist of the year in the specialized magazine “Musica & Dischi”. Among the various remixes made with Molly, the most important is the one by Basco Rossi, “Rewind”, published by EMI; by Boy George, “Love Is Leaving” on time records; the remix of “Doctor Jones” by Aqua, published worldwide by Universal; the Levi’s advertising campaign record, “Flat Beat” remix on no-disc; several versions of the “D&G” Dolce & Babbana “music” record produced by M. Marcolin and Bob Salton for EMI/Dance Factory and “Alla Consolle” by Mimmo Amerelli in the interpretation of the famous Luca and Paolo, presently hosts of “Iene” on the Do It Yourself Label. After the Soundlovers’ production of “Living In Your Head”, cut at plane with Molella and Roby Santini, Phil spent a short period in New York, working at the Funkadelic studio and taking part in live sessions with musicians from all over the world. When he returned in 2001, he was appointed partner of SIAE and afterwards made and produced the first single of the “Helahit”, a group of artists ranging from R&B to dance and jazz, published by time records with versions by DJ Ross. Following a brief period devoted to gearing his studio to the new digital recording techniques, Phil got back to work to compose new material and made his first single as an artist. It was published by Do It Yourself and was entitled “Feel Alive”. An easy listening tune, it was sung in various versions by vocalist Walty and by the American Corey, and was made with the contribution by “Charlie Sky”. In the summer of 2002 Phil make his first promo for the DJ’s and the clubs of Ibiza, a white label entitled “Tribal Happyness”. At the same time he was busy making soundtracks for theatrical performances. But dance quickly came back to knock on his door with a new challenge arriving from the Trade Trance European Sound. The project was called “Flash-K” and the song “My Feeling” was published in 2003 by Liquid Sound, a label of Molella and Max Moroldo’s Do It Yourself. The song was a modern revisiting of “What A Feeling” by Irene Cara (soundtrack of the movie “Flashdance”. “Freed From Desire” was also republished in the interpretations by the Germans “770” and by the “Happyman” with JCA versions. Recently the tune “Do You Wanna Love Me” by singer and vocalist “Walty” featuring “Cindy” with the contribution of Charlie Sky came out on the market, Phil’s latest production. He is currently working on composing new material. His music and unmistakable style are original and easy to listen to. His energetic sound is typically commercial with an ever-present look aimed at the trendy house and trance. Music is his reason for living, in addition to beautiful women, parties on the beach, sports cars and travel, where Phil withdraws in discotheques, clubs and record and musical instrument stores. In addition to a few raves on the beach, he also took part in one edition of the Bologna Street Rave, where he was dressed up as a social centre Dj with his own musical wagon. Phil spends a lot of time in his Milan recording studio, which can be visited on the internet at www.planetstudio.it. The site is entirely devoted to musicians in search of samples and effects useful in writing dance songs.
