Formed in the Ladbroke Grove area of West London in 1974, led by the trio of Brinsley "Dan" Forde (on vocals and rhythm guitar), Angus "Drummie Zeb" Gaye (on vocals and drums), and Tony "Gad" Robinson (on bass), they continue to record and perform today with two of the founder members, Drummie Zeb and Tony Gad.
Aswad ("Black" in Arabic) are a long-lasting British reggae group, noted for adding strong R&B and soul influences to the reggae sound. They have been performing since the mid-1970s, having released a total of twenty-one albums.
